Over the years there's been debate involving Developers, Energy Distribution Businesses and Growth Area Councils about the viability of decorative poles and lights in new subdivisions.

Some views are heavily influenced by perceived future maintenance costs of the decorative option versus the convenience of just letting the EDB's deal with it by using a standard pole and light as EDB's will fully maintain lights and poles that are deemed to be "standard".

The real cost, however, is in the downgrading of a development's internal roads from aesthetically pleasing to drab. Ask any resident what they prefer to see in their neighbourhood and they'll tell you - decorative over standard ten times out of ten.

As a part of Victoria's ongoing Level Crossing Removals, Vicpole have been engaged to to supply the light poles for a number of stations and pathways throughout Melbourne, including at Chelsea Station.

The square pipe poles are laid out throughout the station, and are accompanied by these artistic lights that Vicpole also supplied the poles to go with. Designed by artist James Tapscott, these decorative pieces are just some of the specialty items that Vicpole can bring to your upcoming or existing development.
