A chiller yard may operate behind the scenes, but its acoustic impact can extend well beyond the plant area.

When multiple chillers operate simultaneously, their combined noise can affect nearby noise-sensitive spaces. Managing this requires more than a single acoustic product. It demands a coordinated solution that controls direct noise transmission and reflected sound while maintaining ventilation, equipment access and operational performance.

For a premium hospitality development in Ras Al Khaimah, Kinetics Group successfully completed an integrated chiller-yard acoustic treatment based on site conditions, source-noise data and detailed acoustic calculations.

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗲
✔ Site assessment and source-noise analysis for five chillers
✔ Evaluation of combined sound levels and required acoustic attenuation
✔ Design and installation of 310 m² of perforated metal acoustic wall lining with absorptive infill
✔ Installation of 227 m² of regular acoustic barriers
✔ Installation of 93 m² of custom inclined acoustic barriers at selected parapet zones
✔ Replacement of existing architectural openings with 300 mm double-bank acoustic louvres
✔ Coordination with existing structures, ventilation requirements, equipment access and site conditions
✔ Installation, testing and commissioning in accordance with approved drawings, material submittals and project requirements

Each treatment performs a distinct function: the wall linings absorb reflected sound within the yard, the barriers interrupt direct noise paths, and the acoustic louvres control noise transmission through ventilation openings while maintaining essential airflow.

The integrated solution was engineered to support the required daytime and nighttime environmental noise criteria at nearby receivers without compromising the operation or maintainability of the cooling equipment.

Successful delivery required close coordination between our acoustic design, engineering, fabrication and site teams transforming detailed acoustic analysis into a practical, durable and architecturally coordinated installation.

From source-noise assessment and acoustic calculations to completed site installation, another complex environmental noise-control milestone successfully delivered. 🚀
