Machine of the moment:
Caterpillar 14G Motor Grader

The 14G has a 3306 turbocharged, six-cylinder engine producing 180 flywheel horsepower (FWHP). It has a direct drive or powershift transmission. It comes standard with full hydraulic controls, hydraulic sideshift and tilt, oil disc brakes and an articulated frame.

The 14G was given a 96U serial number prefix.
Modifications

In 1976 Caterpillar added a water separator, beginning 96U01743. The rimpull was increased, beginning with 96U01845.

In 1977 an electric service meter was added, beginning with 96U02254.

In 1980 Cat added a scroll metering fuel system (SMFS), beginning with 96U04298.

In 1981 an electronic monitoring system operator panel was added and a low profile cab was made standard, beginning with 96U04785.

In 1985 horsepower was increased to 200 FWHP, beginning with 96U06676.

In 1987 a 50-amp alternator and new load sensing hydraulics were installed and an electric system update was done, beginning with 96U07046.

In 1989 belted steps were added, beginning with 96U07748. Cat modified the suspension seat with dual shock, beginning with 96U07753.

In 1993 the electric horn was replaced with an air horn, beginning with 96U08855. The air conditioning refrigerant was changed to R-134A, beginning with 96U09075.

Caterpillar offered a certified rebuild program with this model.

Production of 14G ended in 1995; it was replaced by the Caterpillar 14H.
