Changing your car’s oil depends on a few factors, including the type of oil you use, your car’s make and model, and your driving habits. Here’s a general guideline:
1. Every 5,000 to 7,500 miles: For most modern cars using synthetic oil, this is the typical interval. Synthetic oils last longer and handle heat better than conventional oils.
2. Every 3,000 miles: If you’re using conventional oil, changing every 3,000 miles (or about every 3 months) is still common advice, especially for older vehicles.
3. Driving conditions: If you drive in extreme conditions—like lots of stop-and-go traffic, extreme temperatures, or towing—changing oil sooner (e.g., every 3,000-5,000 miles) might be best.
4. Owner’s manual: Check your car’s manual for manufacturer recommendations for your specific model, as it will provide the most accurate interval for your vehicle.
